The Island of Kefalonia has a myriad of spectacular beaches, beautiful coastal villages and places of historical interest.
There are many day visits and things to do but for simplicity and to avoid spending too long in the car I have listed a few things to do near the villa.
Local walks
Walking up above the villa follow the goat trails till you hit a dust road. Turn left and walk along to the old ruins. You will find the ruins of Old Skala (the earthquake was in 1953) and a ruined church, grave yard and olive press house. The ruins are fascinating and there are some ancient olive tree’s with massive girths. Pay attention though as there are many wells in this area. Some seem marked with red paint or are covered with large sticks or metal lids but some are overgrown and difficult to spot. It’s a wonderful place to wander in the Spring and early summer as the terrain is carpeted with wild flowers and the scent of wild sage is heavy in the air!
